perfect

Hannah Nalley

I always regret going to the coffee shop with unbrushed teeth and hair. It seems like a great idea before I leave the house, but it doesn’t leave me feeling particularly social once I’m in public.

In general, I’m not big on the idea of investing a lot of time into my appearance, at least not on a daily basis, which occasionally proves to be problematic. I’ve just never been much of a morning person and I struggle to find the motivation to cut my snoozes short.

I’m sitting next to a really cute guy who looks like Zac Efron as I write this, and it’s really distracting. That may be why I’m so concerned with my unkemptness. Perhaps this is why I tend to do these writings in the comfort of my own home late at night.

But I woke up to a 5.1 magnitude earthquake this morning, triggering the realization that I could die any moment, and I didn’t want the last thing I ever wrote to be about how hot I was. So, this is my attempt to placate my audience with some sensitive material. Is it working?

I have a metric ton of things to do over the next two days: production meetings for the play, final efforts for show promo, cleaning my house before my parents get here… Jesus, there are so many home projects I want to do, but they’re going to have to wait till next week. I know my family won’t judge me for my scuffed up walls and un-tiled mudroom, it’s just that they’ve never seen my house before, and well, I wanted it to be perfect.

I also want the show to be perfect. And the play to be perfect. Are we seeing a pattern here?

I’m about to head to my esthetician for a facial so my skin can be perfect, too. After that, I’m going to meet the band in West Hollywood to finish up show promo. We’ve got to figure out what to do with these remaining flyers… maybe we’ll drop them off at hotels and such, which means I need to wear the perfect outfit. I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to put that together before I leave.

At the very least, I should brush my hair.

Ttyt,

Hannah
